FramePoint Sourcing Quote Scope and Document Review

FramePoint Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. This page prepares a comparable request. It does not sell the searched brand, and it does not claim authorized dealer status. Every supplier who answers should price the same use, the same loads and the same responsibility split.

Send Project Requirements

Six items each quotation should answer

  1. Building use and occupancy
  2. Module dimensions and clear height
  3. Wind, snow and seismic criteria
  4. Authority having jurisdiction
  5. Quantity of modules or buildings
  6. Destination and access limits

What each supplier must quote, side by side

Read across one row before judging a number. A blank cell is an open exclusion, not a zero cost.

Costs that need their own confirmation include freight to the destination ZIP code, unloading, taxes, duties, permits, foundation design, utilities, interior finishes and commissioning. A factory ex-works figure and a landed installed figure are different offers. Marketplace response times and protection badges from other platforms do not transfer to these replies.

Checks before two replies are called comparable

  • Same geometry. Length, width and eave height use one unit system. A 14 ft nominal module width is not assumed to match a 13 ft 6 in transport envelope. A 16 ft eave and a 20 ft bay spacing are written as separate numbers when the alternative is a rigid frame.
  • Same loads. Design live load, design dead load, wind exposure category and collateral load are either filled or marked unknown. A 50 psf floor live load and a 20 psf roof dead load are examples of the units to request, not values this desk assigns. A guessed code is not acceptable.
  • Same documents. Ask for drawings, calculations, weld procedures under AWS D1.1 when steel is welded, and any IAS AC472 or ISO 9001 statement tied to the quoted plant. Purlin and girt spacing, plus the insulated metal panel thickness, should be on the drawing. A badge on a different company site is not evidence.
  • Same quantity basis. Count modules, buildings or square feet, and say whether the budget is per module or for the whole order, in USD if that is the currency the buyer wants to use. Eight modules of 12 ft by 40 ft are not the same order as one 60 ft by 100 ft frame.
  • Same exclusions. Stairs, canopies, furniture, data cabling and local inspections are in or out in writing. A 4 ft stair rise and a 6 ft canopy are examples of accessories that change the price. A verbal inclusion does not survive a later change.
  • Open engineering stays open. If the jurisdiction is not named, nobody on this desk can say the alternative meets the local building code. The structural engineer and the code reviewer for the project keep that decision.

Supplier preference, if the buyer has one, is a cost and finish preference: premium, mid-range, budget-friendly or still undecided. It is not a rating this desk has audited. No current quotation is required to send the brief. Continue to the inquiry options when the form of building is still open.

Questions that change the comparison

Can a shell price be set next to an installed price?

No. The shell leaves foundation, erection and utilities with the buyer. An installed price moves some of that work to the supplier and still may exclude permits. Mark each line included, excluded or optional before any percentage gap is discussed. This desk does not publish a savings figure.

Which standard should be named in the request?

Name the adopted code edition, for example the 2021 IBC where that is the local code, plus ASCE 7 for loads and AISC 360 when a hot-rolled frame is proposed. For a dwelling path, say whether IRC or HUD Code is even the right regime. The supplier then states whether the quoted system was designed to that edition.

What if the buyer only knows the brand search?

Keep the search as the reference and fill the six checklist items with project facts or with the word unknown. Factories can quote assumptions, and those assumptions stay visible. A missing snow load should not be replaced with a national average.

Who decides that an alternative is acceptable?

The buyer, with the project design professionals. FramePoint Sourcing organizes questions and quotations. It does not stamp drawings, does not approve a substitution, and does not take the construction contract away from the parties who sign it.

Ask factories to price one written scope

Send the use, the dimensions, the jurisdiction, the quantity and the destination. Replies that skip a line stay incomplete.
